It is the goal of BecA Hub to provide researchers with a safe and healthy working environment, promote safe and healthy work conditions and practices and establish and maintain an effective safety and health program.

Purpose of the Laboratory Safety manual
The responsibility for the development, and monitoring of the BecA HubResearch Platform Safety Program lies with the Environment, Occupational health & Safety Office.

The Laboratory Safety manual has been developed to:
  1. provide the laboratories with the most current safe work practices, guidelines and minimum standards they shall use in developing and improving their own occupational safety and health program;
  2. comply with the requirements of Kenyan legislation and other internationally acceptable standards.
It uses the OHSAS 18001 Specification and WHO guidelines as reference documents. It is anticipated that this manual will be reviewed and revised in five years from date of publication.
