Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) Hub

To build research leadership and capacity in the African agricultural sciences community - the BecA Hub has received support towards the African Biosciences Challenge Fund from the Australian Government's Agency for International Development (AusAID), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

	Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) is the Australian Government’s agency responsible for managing Australia’s overseas aid program. The objectives of Australia’s aid program are to assist developing countries to reduce poverty, achieve sustainable economic growth and progress towards the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. www.ausaid.gov.au
	Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) is Australia’s national science agency with well developed food, agricultural and farming systems research portfolios. CSIRO has a long established reputation for its contribution to international research, development and extension (RDE) both through leadership of development projects and via collaboration with national and international RDE agencies. www.csiro.au/SAF
