Gbemenou Joselin Benoit Gnonlonfin, PhD

Dr Gbemenou Joselin Benoit Gnonlonfin is a Post Doctoral Scientist in the BecA-CSIRO-AusAID partnership project: "Capacity and Action for Aflatoxin Reduction in Eastern Africa (CAAREA)". Benoit holds an MSc in Applied Microbiology from the University of Botswana and a PhD in Food Safety from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He previously worked as a researcher at the Agricultural and Food Technology Program, National Institute of Agricultural Research in Benin. Benoit has wide experience in the development of mycotoxin diagnosis and analysis. He has published several scientific papers on mycotoxins in international journals, including eight papers from his PhD thesis.
In the CAAREA project, Benoit will play a major role in the establishment and application of a mycotoxin diagnostics platform at the BecA Hub. He will also collaborate with partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Australia and USA in the molecular and morphological characterization of Aspergillus species and the identification of genetic sources of reduced susceptibility to aflatoxin accumulation in maize. |
