Associate Professor Unit: Cornell University, USA Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Rebecca Nelson is an Associate Professor in two departments at Cornell University, USA, Plant Pathology & Plant-Microbe-Biology; and Plant Breeding & Genetics, and is a leading researcher in the field of International Agriculture and Rural Development. She also serves as Scientific Director and Liaison Scientist (East and Horn of Africa) for The McKnight Foundation Collaborative Crop Research Program (CCRP). As a visiting scientist at the BecA Hub, Dr. Nelson has several major goals. The first is to support CCRP project teams in the region and establish new CCRP grants. In addition, Rebecca will be working to advance the anti-aflatoxin research agenda and help add aflatoxin testing capacity at the Hub, further collaboration with the maize program for resistance genetics / breeding, and advise the BecA Hub team on technologies and other strategies that can help African farmers. Her laboratory at Cornell works on the genetic dissection of quantitative disease resistance in maize, in collaboration with maize geneticists and breeders at Cornell, in Kenya and elsewhere. |
