REF: BIOINFO/BECA/08/11 Position A Bioinformatician to work within the BecA Hub. Key responsibilities: • Management and quality control of large amounts of data; • Design, implement and manage database(s) to store and sequence data; • Processing and analyzing data using a wide range of tools (including BLAST, sequence assemblers, MEGAlign, …) • Use scripting to aid and automate analysis. Requirements: • Master’s in Bioinformatics or related field; • 3 - 5 years work experience in a bioinformatics position; • Knowledge of Genetics, Biotechnology and their applications; • Demonstrate experience working and developing in a Linux environment; • Knowledge in SQL and scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby) Terms of appointment:
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI’s Nairobi campus and is open to Kenyan nationals only. The position is on a 2-year term renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding up to a maximum of one year. ILRI will give a competitive salary/benefits package to the successful candidate.
