Introducing new staff at the BecA-ILRI Hub

Dr. Laura Purdie Has joined the BecA-ILRI Hub as a postdoctoral scientist in molecular diagnostics.
Laura has a strong background in molecular biology and virology. She has also gained extensive experience of PCR, DNA cloning and virological techniques from the University of Oxford and GlaxoSmithKline.
She holds a Ph.D from the Department of Oncology, University of Oxford where she produced viruses designed to kill solid tumors. She also has an MSc in virology for the University of Glasgow.
Laura is interested in developing cheap, simple and effective diagnostic tools for plant and animal diseases. Her research interests also include discovery of new viruses and virus evolution. She hopes to provide visiting scientists at the BecA-Hub and ILRI at large with good training and advice in the field of molecular biology and virology.
We are excited to have her as a member of the BecA-ILRI Hub team.
