The Regional students group (RSG) East Africa and the BecA-ILRI Bioinformatics platform held a 3-day course on Proteomics at the ILRI - Nairobi Campus from 20th-22nd November 2008.

The training was organized by Dr Etienne deVilliers and was conducted by Prof. Anna Tramontano from the Department of Biochemical Sciences, University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy. 20 participants from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda took the course.

Course topics included:
  1. Protein Structure, evolution of protein structures, structure classifications.
  2. Modeling by homology, fold recognition methods, fragment based methods. 
  3. Assessment of methods (CASP), structure to function, the human proteome.
