Justus Mong’are Onguso is an agricultural biotechnologist interested in the study of mushrooms, bananas and other plants to enhance food security and sustainable utilization resources.  He joined the faculty at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 2007 and currently holds the position of Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer. His research focuses on the collection and molecular characterization of wild edible mushrooms in Kenya.

 

Dr. Onguso received his B.Sc. in Horticulture from JKUAT and his first M.Sc. degree in Genetics from Kenyatta University in Kenya.  He continued his studies in Japan, where he received a second M.Sc. degree in Agriculture as well as a Ph.D., both from Ehime University.

 

He is a member of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science, the Horticultural Association of Kenya and the Japanese Society for Agricultural Technology Management.
