The Tanzania by Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) Uyole and Biosciences eastern and central Africa - International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub will hold a stakeholders meeting at Tanzania's Directorate of Research and Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives (DRD-MALF) Offices, Dar es Salaam. The aim of the meeting is to share results of the Capacity and Action for Aflatoxin Reduction in Eastern Africa (CAAREA) project.

The CAAREAproject carried out research to address aflatoxin contamination in maize with financial support from the Australian Government through a partnership between the BecA-ILRI Hub and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). The activities were coordinated and implemented in Tanzania by the BecA-ILRI Hub and ARI in collaboration with the Open University of Tanzania, with surveys and field trials being conducted in Kenya and Tanzania between 2011 and 2013.

CAAREA researchers will share their findings with key regional/national policy makers and also engage with other researchers and potential donors to facilitate future partnerships on how to advance and/or disseminate the findings of the projects in order to enhance food safety in Eastern Africa.
